“Yes, well that’s a very, very interesting theory. I have a simpler one: You’re all not worthy.” - Thor Piece count: 181 pieces Measurements: 9.5cm(width) X 9.5cm(length) X 16cm(height) Weight: 180 grams It’s no secret that I’m a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and The Avengers is one of my favourite movies. One of the members of the Avengers is the mighty Thor, the Norse God of thunder from Asgard. He possesses the enchanted hammer known as Mjolnir, which gives him the ability to fly and strike his foes with lightning. I decided to build Thor’s Hammer in mini scale. The idea came to me after sorting my bricks and realising that I could make a nice desktop piece or a very ‘heavy’ paperweight. Design Process First I drew a few sketches based on the movie version of the hammer and worked out what dimensions would look nice. I finally settled with a 4x4 stud depth by 4x10 stud length to give it that rectangular shape. The basic structure was put together using technic bricks with holes. Then I put together a handle and used a technic beam to give it a little stability when holding it. It needed something to stand on, so I went to work on a rock base, differentiated by a darker grey colour, using slopes, bricks and cheese slopes to give the rock formation a sort of random crumbled look. It sits on a 12x12 base with a groove to place the hammer on. I ended up spending a few days just going over the MOC to make sure all the kinks were sorted before finalising the look and feel of the model. I hope you like my humble tribute to the God of Thunder. So are you worthy enough to wield it? These pdf instructions also come with a XML parts list which you can use to easily buy the needed parts on Bricklink.
